Fifteen years ago, in 1999, South Texas Radiology Imaging Centers (STRIC) emerged as an outpatient radiology provider, bringing almost 50 years of experience from the radiologists of South Texas Radiology Group, PA (STRG).
STRIC is committed to providing quality diagnostic imaging and focused on creating a positive patient experience. Striving to provide the most advanced imaging technology available is what sets STRIC apart in the outpatient imaging industry. Technology, along with subspecialized radiologists and highly skilled and accredited technologists, give referring physicians and patients a peace of mind when seeking to diagnose complex medical conditions.
For the convenience of patients, STRIC offers 23 locations in Texas around San Antonio, Boerne and Schertz. Many sites are open evening and Saturday hours, and STRIC accepts most insurance plans. Services provided by STRIC include:
- 3T and 1.5T high-field MRI (including five with wide-open design)
- CT scans (including 64-slice)
- Nuclear medicine
- Digital mammography
- Image-guided pain management
- Interventional radiology
- Bone density (DEXA)
The latest in advanced imaging provided by STRIC is MRI elastography. MRI elastography is a special abdominal imaging exam that aids physicians in the diagnosis of liver disease. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is recognized as the most prevalent liver disease worldwide, and MR elastography provides quantitative diagnostic information to determine the treatment of this disease. STRIC is the first and only provider in San Antonio to offer this exam using 3T MRI technology at Huebner Imaging Center.
“In addition to detection of early liver disease, MRI elastography will also allow clinicians to more sensitively assess progression of hepatic fibrosis in patients with known chronic liver disease,” says Benjamin Tubb, MD, PhD, who specializes in diagnostic and interventional radiology. “Elastography results will potentially help guide clinician decisions about when to perform invasive liver biopsy and how and when to adjust patients therapy.”
All MRI Scanners Are Not Created Equal
MRI technology at STRIC continues to grow and advance, significantly impacting the diagnosis of complex diseases and injuries. To serve both referring physicians and patients, STRIC has combined the best MRI technology available with scanners designed for patient comfort. The 3T wide, open-bore scanners offer a new table design, which includes additional padding and feet-first imaging for most exam types. The 70cm-wide bore offers this comfort by adding more space inside the bore of the scanner.
Board-Certified Radiologists Who Have a Reputation that Spans 60 Years
Professional interpretation and interventional procedures are provided by STRG. Physicians, patients and their families can be confident that STRIC’s 60-plus radiologists are all board-certified by the American College of Radiology. Many have completed special training in subspecialized fields, such as neuroradiology, musculoskeletal, body, cardiac, breast and interventional radiology.
Excellence in Imaging
In order to meet the growing needs of San Antonio, STRIC will continue to strive for excellence in imaging, providing new and advanced technology and leading the way with a new brand of imaging for San Antonio.
