In helping practices and physicians navigate these ever-changing times, our organization has some excellent continuing education and networking opportunities throughout 2014 that can still be added to your calendar!
We are excited to announce that next month, on Wednesday, Feb. 12, SAMGMA will hold our Annual Education Conference from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Marriott Northwest at 3233 Northwest Loop 410. This education-packed conference will feature seven powerful speakers on topics including healthcare industry updates and trends, Medicare updates for 2014, ICD-10 transitioning and project management, Texas prompt pay updates, Texas Workforce Commission updates, cloud computing, and, finally, another look at ICD-10 strategies specific to avoiding cash flow disruptions. Not only will the educational presentations be worthwhile and great, but the networking will be advantageous and valuable. Please check our website to register at www.samgma.org.
In addition to the Annual Education Conference, we will be offering both webinars and a Lunch Connection series for our members and nonmembers. As the local MGMA chapter, we host national free webinars for our members that can span a wide range of medical practice management topics and issues. Members simply RSVP for these hosted events and are invited to join us to listen and interact. Additionally, we host a Lunch Connection series where we bring in many local presenters to discuss specific medical management topics and/or explore and explain useful medical management goods and services. Our next scheduled Lunch Connection series will be held Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Bexar County Medical Society at noon. It will feature a Texas Medical Association representative speaking on phase two of HITECH. Both the webinars and Lunch Connection series are free to our members, and they are excellent resources for continuing education and networking. One of our most significant 2014 events will be our Annual SAMGMA Charity Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament will be held at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort on Thursday, May 8, beginning at noon. Our annual charity tournament has always proved to be a lot of fun and a great opportunity to network while supporting a great cause! This year our selected charity will be the Fisher House of San Antonio. Fisher House provides “a home away from home” for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. As a part of our overall growth and outreach, we also host five membership meetings throughout our fiscal year for our membership base. This also gives us the opportunity to bring in dynamic speakers and presenters who focus on various important and applicable medical management topics and issues.
