The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio and PHI Air Medical Announce New Medical Helicopter

A new partnership between PHI Air Medical and The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio will launch a new medical helicopter in 2019, increasing lifesaving access to children in the region.

The dedicated EC 135 rotary wing aircraft will operate with flight and maintenance personnel from PHI, with The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio providing flight nurses, paramedics or other appropriate clinical staff.

The helicopter features a range of up to 150 miles and will be equipped to transport pediatric patients, including neonatal intensive care unit patients.

When every second counts, community physicians and parents can rely on the ALL KIDZ Team, a specialized pediatric transport team bringing children in desperate need of specialized health care quickly and safely to The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, Thompson adds.

As a COOP program, PHI and The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio will continue providing high-quality access to lifesaving care for residents across central Texas and surrounding areas with a combined commitment to safety and world-class service.
